Hopkins encourages the public to view safety plans for Frenchpark Village

Senator Maura Hopkins has "encouraged residents of Frenchpark and road users to have their say on measures to be introduced to improve safety in the village".

"Roscommon County Council plans to increase road safety measures in Frenchpark Village. A number of accidents have taken place in the village where the N5 meets the busy R361 Castlerea to Boyle Road."

The council has given notice of its plans to upgrade the junction to include kerbing, paving, footpath improvements, minor road alignment. The plans are currently available to view at Áras an Chontae Council Offices in Roscommon town with submissions from the public being accepted up until 2nd September.

Senator Maura Hopkins stated "she has been raising this issue for some time along with many concerned residents and road users.  Visibility at the junction and speed through the village are the main difficulties.  if the measures proposed assist with reducing speed and improving visibility, Roscommon County Council plan to ensure these measures are then made permanent. Where accidents have occurred and risks identified, it is essential that safety measures be put in place to minimise these risks".
